WELCOME TO THE IRIS GARDEN Welcome to the twelth season of The Iris Garden,451 Ridge Road Motukarara, Christchurch. After a mild winter the Iris are showing good growth and increase. I have planted and extensive variety of bearded Iris in the gardens around the cottage, they with some more roses (that I just had to have) promise to put on a good display. Many new varieties of Tall Bearded Iris will be available though some stocks are limited. Get your order in early and don't forget your postcode. We have vouchers available for the Iris Nursery and the Victorian Tearooms, they make lovely gifts. Thank you to Roaseann Cameron for the beautiful photographs, Fine are prints and cards by Roseann, and June McLeods delicate watercolours will be displayed for sale in the tearooms As I now specialise in Tall Bearded Iris I no longer supply SDB, INT or Border Bearded Iris by order but I do have a good selection of these available in pots for visitors to the nursery. Also in pots are a lovely selection of Louisiana Iris which love to grow around ponds but will do well in a sunny spot in the garden as long as you give them plenty of water. The flowers are stunning. Pacific Coast Hybrid Iris with their dainty flowers mainly in lilac shades are an exciting addition to our potted iris range. They enjoy filtered light and shelter from the summer sun, well drained soil and slightly acidic conditions. A special thanks to the staff of the Iris Garden and the Tearooms for their support and dedication, I couldn't manage without you. The Iris Gardens will open on Sunday 11th October with an attractive garden display of Standard Dwarf bearded Iris. November is the time to view the magnificent Tall bearded Iris.
